Thomas H. Netherton Jr. Tom was born Jan. Netherton, Sr. Tom Jr. Bliss, TX. He was awarded the Outstanding Trainee of the Cycle as well as the Spirit of Honor Medal for outstanding leadership which is given to one man in the Brigade. Benning, GA. After a grueling and arduous 12 weeks Tom was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant and was then sent to Panama where he served as Commander of the Infantry Unit, eventually achieving the rank of 1st Lieutenant.
After receiving an honorable discharge from the Army, Tom followed his passion for music and began his singing career. His extraordinary singing ability lead to an audition with Lawrence Welk. He developed a significant and loyal fan base which exists to this day and has been characterized by many of the Welk family members as one of their most beloved stars. Those who knew Tom celebrate the countless personal memories of his wit, infectious sense of humor, and generosity. He was a man who lived life to the fullest; a man of deep Christian faith who is now in the presence of eternal peace.

He is firmly in my heart and I am proud to have been called his friend. My heart and prayers are with his family. May God comfort his family and close friends with comfort. I will miss him as well. I loved watching him on the Lawrence Welk show. Beautiful voice! And now he is singing with the angels. I sure will miss the bond we had you were a great friend. Going to school with Julie, his sister opened my eyes to a blessed life with Jesus Christ.

Tom was always such a fun man to work with! Just seeing his smile would brighten my day! We lost a great man but you can bet that heavenly choir is rejoicing at that voice they have gained!
It was a pleasure getting to know you Tom! We will Never forget all the Great Times we had together…. Rest In Peace our Brother…. Sherry and Sheila Aldridge. My heart is still breaking, but it brings me great comfort to know that he is with Jesus and My Jesus shall meet again in heaven.
As a Welk Show fan, I enjoyed watching him on television. He was very talented and I am happy to hear that he was a devoted Christian. Prayers for all his family and friends.
Thank you Tom for the joy you have given so many of us with your voice! You will be so missed. My sympathies to all of his family members who shaped him into the person we all got to My Jesus on TV on the Lawrence Welk show. It was good reading his service record of what all he had accomplished there as well as singing for the troops all over the world. He was the Perry Como of my generation with such a smooth Silky voice that I could listen to 24 hours a day.
Tom you left your footprints in this world and we all appreciate you for the person you were and the beautiful music you brought to each of us as well as being a very handsome man. It saddened my heart to hear about the loss of of Tom. To the Netherton family, Mrs. Netherton my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Tom voice will be missed. We enjoyed your concert in Liverpool, NY in April of when my Mom, my cousin and her Mother enjoyed your singing at our luncheon.

Tom was a wonderful person and a very talented singer. His baritone voice was such a pleasure to listen to and I was thrilled when I found out that Tom is a Christian who had no hesitancy in sharing his faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.

He will be missed but we will see him again in Heaven when we go to be with the Lord. Tom is a good man, kind and thoughtful. I feel the same way everyone else does. Laurence Welk was always and still is my favorite show on TV and Tom really added a lot to the show. I loved hearing him sing. He was indeed very talented. My sincere condolences to the Netherton family.
Tom was born one day before I was on opposite sides of the globe. Had we gone to school together, I just know we would have been dear friends. What a beautiful voice and Christian countenance he always brought to the Lawrence Welk programs. As others have stated, Tom is rejoicing with the Heavenly choir now. What a glorious thought and comfort to know he is waiting for you all. Praise God for that promise. May God continue to give each of you peace. He was such a wonderful singer and had such a great Christian testimony.
